It’s my birthday today! I’m not a teenager anymore…I’m 20! I was unsure about what blog post I would share on my birthday, but this idea came to me a few days ago and I love it. I got the inspiration from a previous blog post I wrote: Things that have brought me joy recently. Although autumn is my favourite season, there are so many things I’m looking forward to in spring.
Flowers
I absolutely adore flowers, any kind, but especially tulips! I just love all the colours. And then there are all the spring bulbs that come out early in March such as daffodils, irises, crocuses etc. I love to buy a bunch of daffodils when I go to the shops, £1 is extremely cheap for the amazing quality that they are. I treated myself to a bunch of tulips a few days ago, I thought £5 was a bit expensive but it’s a birthday treat.
Picnics
Weirdly, I haven’t had many picnics before but I feel that I should really make use of all the gorgeous places in Bournemouth. There are the gardens, the New Forest, the beach etc.
My birthday
I couldn’t not mention my birthday when writing about things I’m looking forward to in spring. As I am writing this, it isn’t my birthday but I have a couple of things planned which I am really excited about. Since my birthday is on a Sunday, I didn’t want to travel home or back to Bournemouth. Instead, I’m going to the cat cafe with my parents & Pizza Express with two of my friends. I am a bit sad not to be spending time with Monty & Percy, but at least I’ll be with cats!
Lighter evenings
My least favourite thing about winter has got to be the dark evenings. I really hate walking home from uni in the dark and it has caused me to miss a few lectures. It just makes me feel so unsafe. The light evenings mean that I don’t need to worry as much when walking back from uni.
Spring nature
Something else I’m looking forward to in spring is nature! It isn’t just the flowers that I love, but also the birds. When I moved into the house, there was no nature or wildlife in the garden. I put up a birdfeeder but didn’t get any birds for months, I moved it into a tree a couple of weeks ago and now we have lots of birds! I’ve seen Blackcaps, Robins, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Wrens, Blackbirds, Pigeons and Magpies. I went to a country park a few days ago and saw all of those birds, plus a Nuthatch, Coal Tits, Jays and Long-tailed Tits. Birdwatching is quickly becoming one of my favourite hobbies.
Having an ice cream at the beach
Going to the beach is good any day, but it’s definitely more fun to sit on the beach and not get super cold. Having ice cream in the sun, on the beach is pretty perfect. Especially when your ice cream matches a beach hut.
Wearing dresses
I really miss wearing dresses! Putting on a dress just gives me a good feeling and makes me feel a little bit more confident. A lot of my dresses don’t really have sleeves, just straps so they aren’t really suitable to wear tights with. I’m also looking forward to wearing my daisy jumpsuit more – the one I got for £4 from Vinted 🙂

BBQs
Okay, so maybe this is more of a summer thing, but this year I want to try and have lots of BBQs! We’ve decided to have some in our back garden which will definitely be fun. As long as my veggie sausages/burger will be separate…
More seasonal fruit & vegetables
I have been trying my hardest to more seasonal and local food to reduce my carbon footprint. I can’t wait for there to be a wider variety of fruit & vegetables.

Baking
Last year I made a rectangle chocolate cake with piped buttercream in pink and purple and mini eggs on top. A few years ago, my sister and I tried to bake as many things as possible in the Easter holidays. I think we got up to like 12! This year, I think I’m going to bake some spring-themed biscuits or some sesame seed crackers.
What things are you looking forward to in spring?
Best wishes, Cx

Happy birthday Caroline! Our clocks change next weekend and I am so looking forward to lighter evenings. As for BBQs, we barbecue year round. There’s nothing better than a barbecued meal in the middle of winter!
Have a wonderful day!

This post is getting me so exciting for Spring. I can’t wait for flowers, BBQs & picnics too. Hopefully this lovely weather we have been having continues too so I can get out on some lovely walks! A March birthday is so exciting, I’m due my baby boy in 6 days time, so the countdown is officially on! Any day now <3

Autumn is also my favorite season! Followed closely by spring. I love your list of things. Nature is a big one for me and having the weather welcome me outside instead of forcing me inside. I’m hoping to start a garden of some kind this year, so we’ll see how that goes. My goal last year was to BBQ more and I did some, but definitely need to do more of that. Good luck with your baking! It sounds so delicious.

These are some really great reasons why you are looking forward to Spring. I am looking forward to: lighter mornings and evenings, warmer dryer weather, the colours in nature and to be able to wear spring clothing. Thank you for sharing your reasons! Your birthday plans sound great.

A cta cafe and Pizza Express sounds amazing for your birthday! It sounds like you have a lot to look forward to during the springtime; I can’t wait for the weather to improve where I live (we’ve got more snow coming) so I can get out and enjoy the flowers!
