As you can probably already tell from the number of Autumnal posts I have uploaded, I love Autumn! I love it when the leaves start falling or when it’s raining and I’m all warm inside with a blanket. Looking after yourself is especially important in Autumn and Winter because sometimes we lose motivation when it gets dark and cold. If you know anyone struggling with this, or maybe you are yourself, it would be a nice idea to create an Autumn self-care package.
Packaging
First things first, you need to decide what you are going to send your self-care items in. I think we all knew I would mention being eco-friendly in this blog post, so here it is. If you have any previously used packaging or boxes, use them! If you don’t, whether that’s because you don’t order online or you recycle them straight away, buy sustainably sourced packaging. In a previous blog post (previous AD), I shared Lil Packaging who sell packing that is:
- FSC certified
- Accredited plastic-free
- 100% recyclable
- Plant and water-based inks
- The highest possible plant-based glue
Wax melts
If I’m having a down day, I love to burn a wax melt. My favourite wax melt business is The Hawthorn Collection (AD/Brand Rep) and the Autumn collection scents are my favourites. I’ve only recently (I know) discovered how amazing Pumpkin Spice smells and I can’t get enough of it at the moment. I particularly love The Hawthorn Collection because all the products are vegan. Their wax melts are 100% natural and are made from vegan soy wax, as well as not containing Paraffin which is a harmful chemical. The glitter, dyes and mica used are completely biodegradable, as is the packaging. The Hawthorn Collection also have 4 spooky Halloween wax melts out at the moment which you can buy individually or all four.

Keyrings
At some point, everyone will need a keyring. I have been browsing on Etsy for one of my house keys and I came across so many colourful and motivational keyrings that I couldn’t resist sharing.

Tony’s Chocolonely
Tony’s Chocolonely is an ethical brand whose chocolate tastes incredible! It is hands down my favourite chocolate brand, they even have an advent calendar this year which I am very excited about. They are the first chocolate brand to be 100% slavery-free. It is brilliant of them to achieve that, but something I wish wasn’t true. They do so many flavours, though classic me, I’ve only tried the milk chocolate one so far.
Socks
Who doesn’t love a pair of socks? I love super fluffy ones, almost like slippers or bamboo socks as they are super comfy too and thicker. Bare Kind is a brand that I really like as they support wildlife charities and they are bamboo. They have so many beautiful designs in ribbed and trainer socks which come in men, women and children’s sizes. A few of my favourite socks:
Stationary
A lot of people find journaling helps their mental health. I find bullet journaling really helps my mental health, as do others. If you know your friend likes it, you could include some new pens, stencils or washi tapes. I like to buy a new washi tape per month for my monthly themes, they only cost about Β£2 on Etsy so it’s really affordable! I’ve also seen lots of laptop stickers which I think are really nice.
Books
Reading fictional books is a great form of escapism. For me, I love reading any romance or rom-com style book best. I’ve been reading them in one sitting of about 4 hours. Depending on which genre your friend likes, you could buy them a book. I really recommend World Of Books. They are my favourite online second-hand bookshop and they often have brilliant deals on. Their books are about Β£3 on average, and they buy them all from charity shops so your money has gone to a great place <3
Sleep oil
Sometimes when we struggle with our mental health, we also struggle with sleep. At the moment, I can’t fall asleep without rubbing sleep oil on my wrists. If you aren’t sure of what scent to buy, lavender and chamomile are well known for being good for sleep.
Affirmation cards
In my previous post (AD), I shared the importance of positive affirmations in recovery. Even if you aren’t recovering from something, they can be so helpful for getting yourself back on track. If you or a friend are in need of a pick-me-up, I really recommend them.
Hand cream, body butter and lip balm
As I mentioned in a previous post, caring for your hands is extra important in Autumn and Winter. The cold can make our hands really dry and sometimes they crack as a result. My all-time favourite is e45 because my hands are very sensitive, The Body Shop have some amazing ones too. I love their strawberry hand cream* which is good for dry hands.
Caring for your lips is equally important as they get dry and can crack as well. I tend to use Vaseline, but there are lots of lovely lip balms out there.
Photos
I really like the idea of having a physical copy of my favourite photos so I have been making a scrapbook. I haven’t finished yet, but I have been getting the photos printed from the FreePrints app. My friend recommended it to me and I’m obsessed with the concept. You get 45 free photos per month, you only have to pay postage. Last year at uni, I had many photos of my cats and my family, which helped with the homesickness. Sign up to FreePrints using my code cjames2116 to get 5 extra photos each month. You could also buy photo albums and include them in the autumn self-care package.
Crystals
Another idea to add to a self-care package is crystals. Depending on what you or your friend is struggling with, a crystal can work wonders. I like to keep my mini fluorite crystal on me at all times, so I have a couple that I bought at The Psychic Tree.
Prints
Last, but far from least, we have prints! I love a print, especially one that is autumnal or has an uplifting quote on it. Here are some of my favourites:

What would you include in your Autumn self-care package?
Best wishes, Cx

My friend is currently having a tough time, and this would be the perfect self-care package to send her!
I have the perfect packaging in mind! A little basket which was previously used for another gift. I just had a quick look at the wax melts from The Hawthorn Collection, and they look absolutely amazing, as well as affordable. π I have been making a few keyrings recently, so I have that part covered! Chocolate and socks are always a lovely gift idea. I could do with some sleep oil as I haven’t been sleeping great recently.
Thank you for all these lovely suggestions! I feel really motivated to create a self-care package now. π
Awww, that would be lovely! x
