Although not everyone enjoys cleaning, it is an essential part of life. Often people think that being eco-friendly is expensive, but as I’ve said before, being eco-friendly can save you money! Eco-friendly cleaning products tend to be cheaper than other sustainable products. Plus, there are so many benefits to them that I will discuss in this post.
What is eco-friendly cleaning?
I don’t know if there is an official definition, so I’m just going by what I believe.
Eco-friendly cleaning is when you are using a sustainably sourced product that is vegan, natural-derived ingredients and hasn’t been tested on animals. By using eco-friendly cleaning products, they should reduce single-use plastic and your carbon footprint.
Introducing an eco-friendly cleaning brand: NeerSol cleaning tabs
Did you know that most cleaning products contain 90% water? Although water is essential, it is incredibly hard to store, energy-intensive and heavy to carry which rapidly increases its carbon footprint.
To get around this NeerSol have created cleaning tablets that you add to a bottle you already own and just add water! Currently, their 3 categories are all-purpose cleaning, bathroom cleaning and glass cleaning.
How does it work?
The process of making up your bottle of NeerSol cleaning spray is super easy.
- Find out how many ml your bottle will contain.
- Work out how many tablets you will need: 350ml → 1 tablet, 700ml → 2 tablets
- Put the number of tablets you require into your bottle.
- Add lukewarm water.
- Wait until it has dissolved.
- Start using your new cleaning spray!

This is an obvious one, but what I haven’t told you so far is how NeerSol products benefit the environment. Apart from reducing single-use plastic.

Additionally, I always find that I am less stressed when there is less clutter.
Fewer chemicals
This is a massive benefit of using an eco-friendly cleaning product! NeerSol products do not contain parabens, phosphates, ammonia, triclosan, VOCs and EDTA. This means that they are so much safer to use around the house as they don’t contain these hazardous and toxic chemicals.
It’s not very healthy to be breathing in harsh chemicals all the time, especially for the elderly, children and even pets!
Saves money in the long-run
I know I go on about it a bit, but being eco-friendly can truly save you so much money. 1 litres worth of NeerSol product costs £1.75. Compared that to other eco-friendly brands that cost between £2.80 and £5, NeerSol is a lot cheaper. Plus a well-known non-eco-friendly cleaning company charges between £1.70 and £2.50.
Choosing the eco-friendly option is only 5p more and has all these incredible benefits.
Makes cleaning more fun
I had to include this benefit because let’s be honest, cleaning is more fun when you have helped make the product. Maybe it’s the child in me, but adding water to a tablet is pretty cool. Plus, the tablets are coloured which means the liquid is coloured – does it get better than that?

I often use essential oils in water for a quick cleaning spray but I love the sound of these tablets. Plus, as you say, a coloured spray would be so much fun to use, as well as knowing you’re doing your bit for sustainability. I’ve not heard of this brand, so thank you for sharing, Eleanor! x

This sounds like an amazing idea.
I’ve already started making up my own cleaner, using a large bottle of solution and old cleaning bottles. But this would go even further in my sustainable efforts and its cheap.

I love the idea of NeerSol, and how simple it is to use. I am guilty of having different cleaning products in plastic bottles in my cupboard, and as you said, they take up so much space. This alternative is something to consider.

I had never heard of Neersol before, but they sound like a must try! We are already using small at home for cleaning products and they do something similar with tablets that can dissolve in water. Will look into them x
