Make sustainable shopping simpler with Ethy

October 28, 2022 Filed Under: Sustainability, Blog posts

AD – This is a collaborative post, read my disclaimer here.

In today’s blog post I am sharing the fabulous sustainable app/website Ethy. This will no doubt make your sustainable shopping simpler! With Christmas coming up, it is the perfect time to buy sustainable and eco-friendly products for loved ones. I will be sharing my eco & nature-themed gift guide in just over a week, but for now, you need to check out Ethy.

What is Ethy?

Ethy is a website and an app founded in the pandemic, in 2020. They include accredited sustainable brands so that you know which are the best brands to buy from. There are also guides on living a more environmentally conscious lifestyle. Their aim is to show that shopping doesn’t have to be at the expense of the environment, people and animals. This app is perfect for not only individuals, but brands too!

Benefits for brands

Brands that they work with a display on the app/website, have trust marks which show their environmental credentials. These are within 6 sections: stable climate, clean planet, responsible resource usage & production, healthy people, thriving communities and protecting biodiversity & animal welfare. All of the trust marks are linked to the UN Sustainability Goals which is a great thing to say that your brand is working towards. In these sections, there are the trust marks.

They include:

  • Commited to the 1.5 degrees target
  • Energy efficient
  • Powered by renewables
  • Carbon offsets
  • Carbon neutral
  • Plastic free
  • Reduced plastic – taking significant action
  • Recucled packaging
  • Recyclable packaging
  • Upcycled products
  • Refillable products
  • Fights food waste
  • Home compostable
  • On-site composting
  • Circular economy – ensuring items stay in use
  • Locally sourced
  • UK made
  • Waterless products
  • Water efficient
  • 100% natural
  • Clean beauty
  • Community champion
  • Empowered employees

So as you can see, there are lots of Ethy trust marks which you could aim to be accredited with! Having trustworthy creddentials or accrediation, really help build consumer trust.

Ethy also provide incredible resources and support throughout a brand’s journey to creating a sustainable strategy. With Ethy being the place for sustainable brands to be, you are guaranteed a huge amount of brand awareness and reach through promotion on site. This helps you become well known to all the people that care about their own environmentally conscious lifestyle.

They have partnered with sustainable organisations such as WWF and Carbon Neutral Britton which really show their credibility. Ethy also have a lowered cost of accreditation which makes it accessible for all consumer brands to become eco-friendly.

Benefits for individuals

I highly recommend downloading the app, because it is definitely more convenient when you are on the go. One of the great things about Ethy is that you can search for local sustainable shops which is super useful. As I mentioned before, they also write blog post type guides filled with sustainable living inspiration and tips. Check out this article about UK inspiring sustainable lifestyle blogs, and you might just see a familiar face 🙂

In the search page, you can filter trust marks if you are looking for a store with specific credentials. If you are looking for vegan products, tick the 100% vegan box and only places that sell vegan items will pop up. Ethy isn’t just an app to make sustainable shopping simpler, but also a community of responsible shoppers and brands!

One of my favourite parts of Ethy is that you can favourite brands. In my favourites list I have Green Pear Eco, Wild, Smol and Bower Collective.

Have you heard of Ethy before? Will you be downloading the app to make your sustainable shopping simpler?

Best wishes, Cx
