As the weather hots up, it has us looking forward to hosting BBQs. There’s nothing quite like sitting in the sun with a drink in hand and freshly cooked food in front of you. But before getting ready to host this in the summer, you want to check your garden is ready and you’re organised for having people around. If you’ve not hosted for a while or just want to up your outdoor hosting game, there are many things you can do to ensure you throw a brilliant bash. Keep on reading to find out how to throw an unforgettable BBQ and get inspired!Â
Sort your outside space out
The first thing that needs to be done when throwing a BBQ is sorting out your outside space. After all, you don’t want guests walking into a messy space with nowhere to sit and overgrown plants. Look into tree lopping to get your trees into shape, make the most of the sunshine, and plant some new flowers for the season. Get some nice garden furniture for people to sit on and think of things such as outside lights to ensure you can still see once the sun starts to set.Â
Prepare food the day before
Hosting a BBQ is great fun, but if you’re not prepared you’ll end up never seeing your guests, instead being stuck preparing food in the kitchen all day. To stop this from being an issue, do what you can to prepare the day before. You can do things such as making salads, chopping potatoes and marinating the meat with plenty of time so when the day comes, all you need to do is chuck it on the barbie and you’re good to go! This makes it much easier and you can relax, and enjoy your time too.
Set up a food and drink station for guests to help themselves
On the topic of wanting it to be as easy as possible on the day, you should set up a food and drink station where people can help themselves. This makes hosting a lot easier and you know your guests are happy. You could make up a big punch cocktail, get some wines and beers and lay out snacks and food in bowls. Encourage everyone to take what they want and make sure everything is there so you can sit back and chill yourself, without having to constantly run about topping up glasses and opening beers or cans of fizz.
These are just a few top tips to help you throw a truly unforgettable BBQ this summer that your guests are sure to love! Whether you only have a few of you around, a big group, or just your family that live in the house, you’re sure to have a great time.

I’m reading this sitting outside on our deck as my husband fires up the new barbecue he just assembled this afternoon. The weather is unseasonably warm—just over 20 degrees. I’m so excited for summer weather.

These seem like some great, helpful tips. 🙂 Even if I’m not having guests, I still tend to like to prep some things for the meal I’m planning to make. It helps the actual making of the meal on the day go easier and takes less time out of the day, too. 🙂 Thanks so much for visiting my Top Ten post last week!
