Last year I created 22 things to do in 2022 for my bucket list. I really enjoyed taking part in this, though I didn’t manage to tick them all off. For my 2023 bucket list, I have included a couple of things from last year I have plans in motion! I have got about 14 things on the list, so this should be doable for the year.
1. Graduate✅
This should be an easy one…touch wood!
2. Go to Poole Park✅
This one seems much easier in comparison to a lot of the things on the list. I had it on last year’s list, but I never got around to getting the bus and visiting.

3. Go on holiday with friends✅
I went to Bath with 3 of my friends for my 21st birthday, and then interrailing with my best friend in June.
4. Read 40 books❌
Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to read 40 books as I was too busy with University. I managed 29 which is still a good amount and more than I expected in the end.
5. Go interrailing✅
As I said before, I went interrailing in June! I have written a couple of blog posts about the experience, you can read them here:
- Interrailing around Europe – 8 cities in 16 days
- 14 interrailing tips you need to know before travelling
6. See 3 butterfly species I haven’t seen before✅
Of course, I needed a butterfly-related one! Last year I managed to see 19 butterfly species and lots of them were new to me. This year I really want to see 3 more species that I haven’t seen before. I would love to see the Large Blue, Silver Studded Blue and Clouded Yellow.
I managed to see 6 new species of butterfly, which I am very happy with! I didn’t see the Silver Studded Blue or Clouded Yellow because neither are in my county.
7. Visit Bath✅
As I said earlier, I have booked to go to Bath for my 21st birthday! I’ve very excited because I live relatively close and yet I haven’t properly visited it. I’ve booked an Airbnb for 2 nights and made a (bucket)list of places I want to go to. A few of my musts are bookshops, Mrs Potts Chocolate Shop and checking out the Bridgerton spots.
Going to Bath was an absolute dream, my highlight of 2023! We visited lots of bookshops, my favourite was Toppings & Company – the book ladders were very cool. It even snowed which was very magical to wake up to during my birthday stay.
I ended up going to Bath for the Christmas markets in November, which was a lot of fun.
8. Try paddle boarding❌
Living in Bournemouth, it feels like I need to try out paddle boarding. I went to Italy in 2017 and saw someone paddleboarding and since then I have wanted to try. Hopefully, my friend and I will get to try it this summer.

9. Have a good 21st birthday✅
I had a lovely birthday in Bath, which ticks about 3 things off this list haha!
10. Go to a restaurant and order what I want✅
I really want to go to a restaurant and order what I want without worrying that it is a weird combination or that it’s not the correct thing. For example, just order sides.
I’m going to say that I did tick this off, but I still worry about being judged so it’s a mix really! But I ordered potato rostis and a frozen strawberry daiquiri which is my favourite that Flamingo sell.
11. Make focaccia❌
I really got into breadmaking in December and next on my list is focaccia! On bake-off, they did look quite hard but I would love to have a go. Focaccia is so tasty!
12. Read 10 books I already own❌
I am guilty of buying books and letting them sit on my shelf for ages before I end up reading them. Last year, my goal was to buy fewer books and I did manage to do this. I have been a bit brutal with which books I buy and I try my hardest to only buy second-hand books from World Of Books or charity shops. Normally I only buy a book new if I really want to read it and can’t find it second-hand.
I only managed 3…maybe next year?
13. Stick to a skin routine✅
I will put my hands up and say I don’t look after my skin as well as I should. This year I really want to rectify that. Taking my make-up off, cleansing and moisturising my face.
I managed to stick to a skin routine, but I’m not sure it was the right one!
14. Explore the local area✅
I have lived in Cheltenham my entire life and yet I don’t feel like I know it well enough, I want to check out more cafes, gardens etc. While I am living in Bournemouth, I want to do the same. I feel that I have explored a fair amount of it, but I would love to explore more nature reserves and more of the New Forest.
14a. Bournemouth✅
I think that I definitely explored as much of Bournemouth as I could.
14b. Cheltenham✅
I have explored more of Cheltenham than I had before moving back home, but I still want to explore some more.
