As it is getting closer to Christmas, I am going to share some last-minute eco-friendly stocking fillers. When it comes to being eco-friendly, try to consider whether the person needs or wants the item. The stocking fillers I’m sharing are all below £10 to ensure they are affordable. A stocking filler isn’t meant to be expensive, but it seems a lot of people are spending a lot of money on them. Just a reminder that it doesn’t matter how much you spend, it really is the thought that counts. I am trying to appreciate that more too.
Chocolate
Starting off with a classic stocking filler! Who doesn’t love chocolate (or sweets)? I think a staple of a stocking has got to be a bag of chocolate coins*. I’m sure there are vegan alternatives, or a packet of sweets if chocolate isn’t your thing. Some other ideas:
- Divine giant chocolate coin*
- Organic milk chocolate Santas*
- Vegan vanilla fudge*
- Organic milk and white chocolate robins*
- Tony’s Chocolonely milk chocolate chip cookie bar*
Nail varnish
Nail varnish/polish is a great stocking filler, and you can really personalise it as there are so many colours available to pick from. If you have read my blog before you will know how much I love Earthy Nail Polish, and they have just released the Goddess Collection. Aphrodite* is my favourite shade (far left) which is a pearly colour with blue undertones. I also love the Theia* which is a cool silvery chrome shade.
Seeds
Another great idea for eco-friendly stocking fillers is seeds. Last year my friend gave me a couple of packs of seeds for Christmas, and I think it was my favourite gift that she gave me! I thought of her every time I picked the flowers. When choosing the seed variety, ensure that you think about how much space the receiver has. Tomatoes, cucumbers and pumpkins require a fair bit of space, while herbs and cornflowers can be grown on a window sill.
Candles
Candles are lovely stocking fillers to receive, and there are many eco-friendly, vegan and cruelty-free brands. You could opt for a festive scent such as Christmas tree* and candy cane* or an all-year-round scent such as coconut and lavender*. If the person you are buying for already has a wax melt burner, wax melts* could be another good option.
- Fruity = Festive fig and snowberry*, Apple pie*
- Fresh = Coastal escape*, Into the woods*
- Floral = English lavender*, White Rose*
- Woody = Cinnamon bark and white ginger*, Christmas at the castle (gingerbread)*
- Aromatherapy = Jasmine*
- Sweet = Birthday cake*
Socks
Socks are definitely a present that gets better the older you are. When you’re a child you don’t want socks, but as soon as you are an adult that’s all you want haha! I love to receive socks, and I know lots of people who like to receive them. I like picking out animal socks such as Bare Kind* where 10% of the proceeds go to that animal’s charity.
Bath or shower bomb
Bath or shower bombs are really fun and affordable eco-friendly stocking fillers. Bath bombs are fun, but I much prefer to use shower bombs as they make you smell extra nice but there’s no need to spend hours in a bath! My skin is really sensitive so I tend to stick to brands I know won’t upset me. Lush is my favourite, I love their ‘Sleepy’ shower bomb which smells of lavender and is so relaxing.
Stationery
The final idea of my eco-friendly stocking fillers is stationery. I absolutely love stationery and a lot of pens or pencils are recycled. It’s such a clever idea to produce pens from ocean plastic*. If you have someone in your life who is interested in the natural world, such as the ocean, it can be a nice way to engage them in being more eco-friendly. There are even compostable notepads*, paper-based washi tape* and pastel wheat straw pens*.
Which of these eco-friendly stocking fillers is your favourite?

These are all excellent ideas Caroline. I usually buy socks but my daughter told me this year “NO SOCKS” because she has way too many. So we have a moratorium on socks at the moment. Stationery is an excellent stocking stuffer. Pens, highlighters, sticky notes. All great ideas.

Oh no haha! I’m obsessed with stationery x

I must admit, I really enjoy opening presents at Christmas in a stocking. It’s so much fun, and I love the idea of making sure to go eco-friendly with what we put in there. Great ideas; thank you!
